Login as Administrator to do the above. That is what is for, rights
that you do not need all the time but are full rights.

You see security for the first time and say it sucks because you never
really had any in the past. Sorry but is so wrong I cannot even begin
to address it. The early Windows OSs were wrong and only lately have
they become fixed. Suddenly you have to hit an extra button to think
about ACCEPTING responsibility for what you are about to do.

You need to get CCleaner and run that. You can look at everything in
the Start up and stop it and remove it. CCleaner is free and great.

For AV get Kaspersky which I believe will give you 30 days for free.
I have been using this for a while and very fond of it, and they have
lots of cheap codes on the web to cut the price in half. It is very
anal and will want to tell you about every blasted thing that is
running all the time. I toned down the various messages they want to
display. But it does a great job of sniffing out crud in HTML in
emails.

Do you load Skype? If yes that may be your first poor install, in
that Skype will route through their servers making everything you do
slower.
