Nick,

130 years is 130/4,000,000,000  of the life of the planet.  What could you 
possibly tell in that short of time.  That's like measuring your life by the 
last 1.2 minutes and determining what your future holds.   

During that time not only has CO2 increased, but radio waves, the number of 
women wearing pants, and the number of golden retrievers.  

Then there is the issue of contamination of the data.   As urban creep sets in, 
suddenly instead of being out in a pasture somewhere, the thermometers are 
surrounded by the heat islands of major cities.
