And probably a bad WAG noting it is unlikely you have read any of his work. Technical writing is hard if you are not a good writer and not a good technician. Developers who can write can do well. I have seen it happen several times. Granted, getting into any field without proven experience is not as easy as having decades of experience, but it is definitely doable, and you can make a decent living too.
