Actually - some VR has evolved a lot since back then. In your college days - decent VR wasn't really Viable. But, with computer being SO MUCH more powerful now - and multiple processors in a machine - we are now getting to the point where VR can be Viable. Although - there are still issues with the HMD's - with issues of weight vs. cost vs. realism.
