Actually - some VR has evolved a lot since back then. In your college
days - decent VR wasn't really Viable. But, with computer being SO MUCH
more powerful now - and multiple processors in a machine - we are now
getting to the point where VR can be Viable. Although - there are still
issues with the HMD's - with issues of weight vs. cost vs. realism.

I had done some research into VR early in my college career and thought 
about going that route for my educational pursuits and career...but 
didn't because my wife would never move from her really small town in 
PA.  Look what that decision did for me.  (grrr)  Very very very cool 
stuff, though.
