I just spent 4 hours trying to get a connection to a Citrix server. I kept
asking the IT people on their end "Do I have an open connection to the server
or are you blocking some ports". For 4 hours they kept telling me, "IF you can
ping it, everything should be wide open".

So then I asked, "Do I have to open any ports on my side". And they said, "No".

Well it turns out the guy on their end who originally set up the VPN never
added a rule for our connection, so by default it was blocking almost
everything except probably the ping port.

Not being a VPN expert I just assumed I did something wrong on my end and kept
on checking firewalls, settings, etc.

Frustrating.
