Remove the client from the domain. (put it into a workgroup?) 
Open the IE browser and go http://your_sbs_server/connectcomputer
This will connect the client and run the wizard.

again?
I guess it's referencing the original server somewhere.

I assume you have only 1 domain controller?

Have you checked it's not something silly like an old DNS entry?
