I think it was because they built their presentation around a very early beta, 
and 
then they updated to the latest version of the beta right before the 
presentation, 
because they wanted to show the latest and greatest. Really embarrassed for 
them but 
yeah, they should have known better.

I doubt there's anything compelling enough, given that I'm not already using 
.NET for 
my desktop apps.
