Sounds like a distorted reading list for a Foxpro developer.  If you
are writing code to run on Linux then you are in the grove and more
power to you.

In Linux we were warned not to run our computer as Root, yet in Win
most here feel that it is the only way possible for you to operate.
Probably because you found that it took any hazard out of your way ;->
 Why do it correctly when I can just do it.

Do you remove safety guides from all of your power tools as well?
They get in way as well don't they?
