it" in W$. I wonder why.

I use Ubuntu at home.
Whenever I want to use a visual tool that needs privileged access I'm 
asked for the password.
Even have an "explorer" app with root privileges (asks for password 
before entering), if I want to visually manipulate privileged files.
If I'm using the command window then I'm told I don't have privileges. 
Just rewrite the instruction with "sudo " in front and I'm asked for the 
password before going into the app.
Not in the way at all.
(at the office though, we still use XP)
