Lou,

I live on a limited budget, and just picked up a Toshiba with Home Premium.
I'm looking at upgrading to Professional for the ~$75 US for this very
reason. I chose the Toshiba C655D-S5048 because I can upgrade it to 8 GB of
RAM and the keyboard layout doesn't have FN+key combinations for common keys
I use (Compaq/HP's F1-F12 require the FN and MSI Home/End keys did). Lenovo
was a close second. I didn't feel I needed the webcam because I have that on
my netbook. A 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon II Dual-Core P320 processor, has the
hardware virtualization and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics. The
full specs can be found here:
http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/satellite/C650/C655D-S5048.

I have a few more things to square away before I put Pro on to it though. I
have installed VS 2005 and VS 2010 onto the notebook and performance of them
starting up with CodeRush Xpress installed is nice. I'm sure more RAM would
be liked by the IDE and the add-on's a I'll be putting in it. Virtual PC
2007 SP 1 isntalled on the box. It runs an XP VM I have. When I installed
the VM additions, it became a bad thing.

What I read, it's an activation code. If you have a fast internet
connection, downloading the upgrade shouldn't be that bad. I did not read if
it is something one can download multiple times. There is an option to
purchase the upgrade from retail stores. If there is a disc in the
packaging, that's how I'll go.
