Australia: best economy in the world and second-most desired location to
live. It might occur to some wise people to take a look at what we do and
have done to get to such a position. Or you could just pretend that
everything USA does is right and the best alternative. Australia isn't
socialist like Europe - which is bankrupt as a result. It isn't
uber-capitalist like USA either - which is also bankrupt as a result. We
have a system that picks out the best from both. We have a strong capitalist
economy tempered with socialist welfare (and universal health care). We
don't have cradle-to-the-grave welfare but we do support our unemployed and
out poor. It is a system that has given us the best economy in the world
while giving a standard of living that is top 10 and a desirability ahead of
almost everyone. It can actually be done. We ahve far less rich people than
you but also far less poor.

I think you should broaden your reading material. You are so biased that you

pick and choose exactly what you want to hear. The only people who hold up
our system of what NOT to do have a hidden agenda and believe in socialism
and think the government can do everything better. By fomenting unrest they
can get more power.

I listen to Glenn Beck frequently and he has a lot to say about the evils of

socialism an progressive thought. He even defines what the progressive
agenda means. It is not good. His latest example is what happened in
Czechoslovakia in the thirties when the Communists took over after creating
a false sense of the world coming apart by starting riots in the streets.

This is off the point but relates to my previous comments.

I tend to agree that everyone should have health care but to be provided by
the government is a recipe for disaster. Actually the reason we have so many

problems is that as the government provides more businesses are only too
glad to opt out and let the government do it. Plus there is so much waste
and fraud when the government gets involved. That is what I complain about.
You on the other hand think the government should provide everything and
when it doesn't you think we don't care. In a small population like
Australia it is much easier to monitor fraud. Also you don't have the same
litigious attitude as here.
