Hi Michael,

Conservatism, at least the meanest variety, is a recent phenomenon in 
the US. In France the "Let them eat cake" attitude lead to a number of 
executions but it is only recently that our upper class has been the 
like of Marie Antoinette. Define "tremendous" then define "stretch".

All my life, and I am old, the poor have been cared for by doctors and 
hospitals. Reagan talked of the "safety net" and this is pretty much the 
context. It is only the last few years that we have wanted to put them 
into their graves paying for what had saved their lives.
