Whoops, I should have said "Plug a usb device into the dual eSTAT/USB 
port to see if your laptop finds it.

Also, you might check what appears in your "Device Management", (eg 
Control Panel -->  Performance and Maintenance --> Administrative Tools 
--> Computer Management --> Device Manager per my XP Pro Virtual OS).  
If you have a CD with drivers, try to install it from there by having 
windows scan for new devices, etc.

It wouldn't hurt to check you BIOS again just to be sure whether the 
eSTAT/USB port has an enabled setting, etc.

The last time I checked free software was available via Google that 
would report all the hardware available in a computer, so you might give 
that a try.
