I "made the jump" starting with RedHat 5.1 in 1998, dabbling through
2001 and going full-time Linux in 2004. I can tell you that, for my
experience, dual-boot was the worst of all worlds: I always needed a
tool in the other OS.

These days, with sufficient hardware, a VM is a good alternative. Both
OSes can be available simultaneously.

And hardware is relatively cheap. Get a second machine and set it up
as Linux exclusively. You don't need to worry about messing up the
partition table and making Windows unbootable (or gone.) When you get
a task, try to figure it out in Linux, and switch over to your Windows
machines if it's not easy and fast enough in Linux. Over time, I'll
bet you'll find yourself on Linux more and more... :)
