1. Who says he offered to surrender?
2. Who says they weren't trying to capture him alive?

I'm sure however there was a kill order from Obama. If the UK had intel
pointing to where he was the SAS would have done exactly the same thing for
7/7. However all things considered... it's better that he's dead as alive it'd
of been a total distraction organising a trial, where jurisdiction would be,
appeals etc...

Dead and buried at sea, no grave, no place for tributes, no place to worship a
"fallen martyr"....

The only people without the high ground here are Al Quaeda and Pakistani
Intelligence who it is feared knew where he was all along...

I spend about 1/3rd of my working time in Muslim Countries and am in one today
(albeit one that is secular - Turkey) and the talk in the market this morning
was good, glad he's gone... no one was sticking up for him.....

I'll see what they are saying later in the week when I get to Malaysia...

This Obama was a murderer.
So where those who murdered him instead of delivering him for trial.

I remember when people in USA took the streets to celebrate victory in a
war. Nowadays they celebrate a murder that was possible thanks to data
extracted from a tortured prisoner. How times change!
Worst of all, it does not make sense, he'll be considered a martyr and
his image will recruit lots of young fanatics. After 9/11 you could, in
some ways, take the higher moral ground with these people, after this
murder that advantage is gone. OTOH it spells to other world leaders "we
can murder you if you get in our way", mafia politics.
Obama could have been delivered for trial, which would have probably
been a smarter political move. Now a man who is far more extremist than
he was commands Al Qaeda, and has a big martyr to show. These people
fight for ideals or religious beliefs, not for victory. You used to know
what this was about, not anymore.
