Wish I knew that ahead of time...
I'll try a WORD macro on the existing text file to fix all the dates and
then reload (after deleting all the records). In the future, I will want to
update the week's games played (scores), and the stats table(that one will
be no fun). Right now I keep yr. avg stats. Eventually, I want to keep game
by game stats to detect teams getting better or getting worse.

Don't forget that MySQL takes dates like strings in the format 
(delimited with single quotes) '20121016'  (which is in the YYYYMMDD 
format).
