i too had problems w/pppconfig.....i didnt have a winmodem, so i cant help u
there...my modem is a USR 56k on com2....neither linux nor any flavor of
windows has a problem handling it...
my problem w/pppconfig came from the fact that w/any other distro, when
pppconfig asked for DNS servers, i could put values in...and it would
actually DO SOMETHING with them and resolve ip addresses This didnt happen
w/Progeny. To get Progeny to work w/pppconfig i had to tell it that DNS
servers were being configured elsewhere and then add the settings in
/etc/resolve.comf..only then would it work......I noticed the SAME THING
w/kpp....if i put values in kpp, nothing would happen, but if i left the
values blank and edited /etc/reslve.conf...BINGO, suddenly i would be able
to connet w/kpp..
Yes i think that it is Distro related...(no probs w/other debian
distro(corel or storm)but there is a workaround so i am happy...and it now
works
