My thought was that J's primitives were compiled subroutines, and so it fit within the concept of the leading sentence description. I agree that its hard to see the relevance of any of the detailed descriptions though.
I described J as an interpreted language that needs few type checks (homogeneous arrays), and where tokens are standins for calls to C code.
