Is it possible you are comparing 901avx2 with 902 (nonavx)? I have not run your test yet on a mac, but on linux, I find that 902avx2 is nearly 3 times faster than 902(nonavx).
If you didn't do the final install steps, then you would not have upgraded JE from the base version to the avx2 version. What is 9!:14'' on your slow 902 system? If it says j902, then you should upgrade.
