Rather than just responding to algorithms already posted in other languages, there are a few (many?) good showcases of practical J use in the documentation/jwiki which are already well written.
E.g., the Knight's Tour algorithm might be a good showcase of J: http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Essays/Knight's%20Tour It would be interesting to put new tasks up where J will come out really well compared to other languages. I did not want to put the KT up though since it is not mine. Putting new tasks up rather than just responding to exiting tasks could also gives J a cheeky head start since, if I understand the RC site correctly, the % of tasks completed in the other languages may go down for each new task added until they respond? i.e. I suggest we bombard the RC site with new tasks taken from the existing J body of work for some quick wins. 2009/8/29 Brian Schott <[email protected]>: > Ric, > > Yes, I agree and did so.
