Dan, I think your demo is terrific and brief. If you made some of your comment lines only only line long, you would shorten the code. Zero line comments (none) would make it shorter still <grin>.
I don't think I noticed others adding color to text or choosing a font or its size, for example. You could reverse DIRECTION with - instead of -.
