Yes it was a bit of a mess! Much of the complexity of the legend table can be
reduced by splitting it into two. I originally combined them to reduce the
amount of vertical screen real estate required.

I've updated the page with two options:
The first splits the legend in two for maximum simplicity.
The second simplifies the previous combined legend.

If the second is too much of a pain to work with, feel free to delete it for
now and work with the split legends. We can combine them again later if desired.

For changing things like colors it isn't too hard to copy the whole page's
MoinMoin code from the browser into a text editor, do a search and replace on
the desired colour code and paste back into the browser to Preview. Feel free
to experiment & suggest a better colour scheme.

The current implementation uses inline CSS to format the table/rows/cells. It
would be possible to hide some of the detail by specifying classes and/or ids
in the MoinMoin markup and adding the desired CSS formatting details to the
wiki site stylesheet (or a user-defined one). However that would mean the
formatting could only be adjusted by the server administrator (or would require
users to specify a custom stylesheet in their preferences).
