It has happened to me a few times in the past that updating with JAL in either JHS or GTK has resulted in need for renaming and reinstalling. I have not bothered to find out why or what caused the failures it is not so often it has happened over the years. It did happen about a month or two ago last time.
The base J7 is so small and the addons are so big and many and changing all the time that it is hard to say what causes the mix up. I guess that there are a number of people creating/changing the addons so it is only natural that some things do happen like this. Unfortunately that doing updates resulting in failures to restart it is a bit hard to know what has caused it and those who do not get all the addons may not know that there are collisions for others.
