Thanks, Bjoern.

It was the same whether I ran an icon or the batch file.
I didn't think the gtk icon is provided but am probably
wrong.

I tried reinstalling, but GTK still didn't start. JHS was
ok.

It seems my posting of 10 Jan 2011 still applies:

I renamed
<jinstall>/gtk as <jinstall>/gtk.old,
    addons/gui/gtk as addons/gui/gtk.old
and
    addons/ide/gtk as addons/ide/gtk.old

and then in the jconsole window, ran
    install'gtkide'
and
    load'gtkide'
as suggested at
http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/System/Installation/J701/Gtk

I still don't see why the reinstallation doesn't
(on its own) seem to work on the gtk side of things.

It is also disturbing that running the package manager
to get the new JHS stuff has evidently stopped the GTK
side working, albeit temporarily!
