Hello Tibor, [...] > We tend to use the same address for both ADMINEMAIL and SUPPORTEMAIL, > so we don't tend to notice if some emails are missend. ;-)
A prominent boss of our old ILS vendor told me many years ago something that I never forgot: Each new customer uncovers a whole new kind of bugs, because people use the same software in unexpected ways. Probably there are several rephrases of this sentence, but I'm amazed how right he is. > In your example, if the installer is to be kind of hidden back, and > SUPPORTEMAIL does all the "administration" (to quote you), then maybe > the latter would be enough for *all* the email sending business, for > the administrator can forward any system related matters to the > installer if need be? In other words, how far does the installer get > detached from looking after the running service? We try (although not quite achieve) to distinguish what are library-related issues and policies, and specific computer issues. Other hints are: external users write the librarian, not me (that is, if the email is published on the web, it is for the librarian); or: if it is command-line, it is for me, otherwhise, it is probably the librarian. In the current setting, librarian should be SUPPORTEMAIL, and me ADMINEMAIL. Ferran
