Given the screenshot you attached I start to think there might be some
encoding issue related to the type of characters you are using. Is it
possible that the user trying to be member has a nickname written in
Chinese? There might then be some subtle bug in the HTML rendering of
this particular page.
If you want you might send us the actual HTML page of your screenshot
so that we can check if there is any escaping/encoding problem...
