Oh, it makes perfect sense with a great majority of the CEO's coming from the
sales/marketing or financial ranks.

It's much easier to write press releases about the mystical qualities
envisioned by a new company name or the "paper strength" of a company's new
financial footing supposedly garnered from the latest merger or corporate
acquisition. Lot's easier in fact than building a better product, cheaper, with
fewer bugs -- that your customers actually want. Heck, that's HARD WORK... ;-)
