There was a Bitmap converter that you could download from the forum web sight. I still have a copy of it and could e-mail it too you.
The converter was never on the "forum" web site, it was on the protel-users web site on yahoogroups, in the file section.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/protel-users/files/
the file name is BMPtoPCB.zip
Note that you have to be a member of the mailing list protel-users and accept a cookie in order to access the protel-users files in that space. You can join the list by email to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but that won't give you access, you must instead subscribe through the yahoogroups.com user interface so that you are recognised as a member when you access the site.
List membership is open, but moderated in order to stop the spammers. So it can take a day or two, sometimes, to join, for the subscription to be approved. You might get a mail asking you to say the magic words, such as "I'm a protel user."
I highly recommend joining the list, it is a back-up for the Forum; if you have a question and the Forum is down, which happens from time to time, you can ask it there. If you haven't already joined, there will be a delay.... There is a large subscriber base, most of the regular writers for the Forum are members, but there is not much traffic.
Plus, of course, you get access to lots of user files....
