They have a nice process to define rooms based on selected components.
First, on the schematic, select all the components you want to include in a
room.
Now select [Tool-Select PCB Components]

Over on the PCB, all these part will be selected.

Now on the PCB side, select [Design-Classes] and click on the Component tab.
Click on the "Add..." button.
Click on the "Class Generator" button and leave all the default dialog boxes
to "Any" EXCEPT for Selection. Set it to "True"
Edit the class name as appropriate
Click on the ">" button
Now click OK.
This will create a class of all the selected components on the schematic and
then you can make a room that holds the newly generated class.
Now you can click on the Tools-InteractivePlacement-ArrangeWithinRoom" and
there you go.

To turn off room visibility:

Press the keys OD.
You get a dialog box and in the lower right you can hide the rooms.

Is there a way to define rooms from the schematic and if so how?

also is there a way to turn off room visability without turning off the
layer the room is on?
