Hi Robert, I just purchased a license for Protel 99SE from an individual in Alabama. I located him from a users group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/protel-users-resale/ on the web. He gave me his license number, and I called Altium to verify that it was active. I contacted him and sent a purchase order stipulating that payment was based on receiving the CD and manual, plus successful transfer of the license to my company, plus getting the access codes needed to use it. Altium can check out the license number and tell you if it has been used for an upgrade, which means it is no longer transferrable. The seller notified Altium/Protel that the license was being transferred to me, then I called Altium and was provided with the access codes. Note than an upgrade can include buying a different ecad system from Altium as well as a newer version of Protel.

Since I have not done this before, does anyone know what documentation Protel requires to prove to them I bought the license to qualify for future upgrades if we decide (its getting so expensive and so many features we really don't need I am not sure of this)?
