Hi. the firewire connections are firewire 400. And, I don't believe it will work as a control surface in Logic. It would work as an audio/midi interface though I believe. Bryan or anyone else, please correct me if I am wrong on that one.
The M Audio project mix with pro tools m powered is a much better bet. That will give you audio, midi, and control surface functionality in pro tools m powered, logic, sonar, etc. I just bought a second hand unit this week. And, the mic preamps might not be as good on the project mix, but, you do have eight of them, as opposed to only four on the digi 003.
