Another aspect of the termoil there was public as well though. I didn't forward a very pained sounding letter from Ashley Smith, their head tech support guy who was, he claims, unseremoniously let go a few months back. That was sent to all customers whose email addresses he had, and basically was a plea to fight on his behalf.

Anyway, it sounds like they are going through growing pains, which is understandable hwen your products are dare I say, revolutionary.

Pretty candid. If it isn't a bunch of BS, then it is very refreshing to have
a developer put his heart on his sleeve and lay out the bare facts of the
status of their current product developments and allow the customer to make
an informed decision on whether to move on or hold on through the bumps in
the road and continue to support the company.

Subject: Fwd: Message From Steven Slate Regarding AAX Updates

I'm a happy user of some of Slate's excelent plug-ins over on the Windows
side. Here's his latest update email regarding AAX, missed release dates
etc. I'm not a customer service expert, but this does sound honest, and
it's nice to see someone throw himself on his sword as it were and ask
forgiveness from the customer base. What do you folks think? I've certainly
never seen this sort of candor from a larger company.

Does this seem at all melodramatic, or does it strike you as heart-felt?

Chris
