just to add, make sure quick punch is turned on with command shift p, otherwise 
when you try to jump in to record mode while playing the file, nothing will 
happen. This well may be stating the obvious, but it is just one of those 
things that tripped me up for an hour wone afternoon hen i started using 
protools.
