I’d go thunderbolt. FW days of having drivers are probably numbered. I’d recommend the Focusrite Clarett 4 Pre. Its 8 inputs and 4 of the 8 are mic/line combo jacks. The first 2 can also be switch do handle instruments. However, verify that the Clarett has 2 thunderbolt jacks. I seem to remember my Clarett 8PreX only having one. So you may need to get a dock if it doesn’t have the second thunderbolt jack to connect to the monitor. The iOS software was accessible when last I used it, and the desktop software isn’t but Focusrite support can remote in and set it up. If you are willing to go USB check out the specs on the Arturia AudioFuse also. Latency isn’t as super low as thunderbolt devices but should be low enough. > On Aug 25, 2017, at 9:28 AM, Peter Bosher <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi All, > > > I need to choose a new audio interface, and looking around suggests that > Thunderbolt may be better than FireWire.
