Pressing enter should take you back to the beginning of the project and clear the selection, but another way of doing this is to just press the down or up arrow again. If you press the down arrow the selection will be cleared and your edit cursor will be right where the beginning of the selection used to be. Same for the up arrow. Hope it helps!
