Hi David, Scrubbing in a MIDI track will deselect it but it won't deselect an audio track. For MIDI tracks, you might want to use the arrow keys along with Shift to select notes rather than trying to scrub. That said, if you do scrub and use Shift to select a range, after selecting the range, move away from the track with Control+semicolon or Control+p and then back to the MIDI track and it'll be selected.
