Hi, If you use a music CDR it would record in CD audio format only and would be playable in any CD player.

It can though be left open. There is no way to create just an MP3 disk on the unit, you need to create it as a DAISY disk with all the issues we have been talking about re the MP3 file on a DAISY disk being a sequencial file - i.e, you start from the beginning and go forward, regardless of where you are in the general scheme of the audio. While this plays in some MP3 players, there will be no "tracks" by default, even though you put "headings" into the unit, and audio may be presented out of order.
