PA does not fiddle with "S/PDIF Optical Raw". That sounds like something
that is only every useful for S/PDIF output which you don't use, right?
If there is a mixer element that is not properly set when accessing the
analog device strings front:xxx, surround51:xxx and so on, then ALSA
should be fixed to set that.
