Issue #11609 has been updated by Alex Harvey.

Also, how do we decide when we do and don't need to specify the full path of a 
system command?  I see we've assumed that lsdev is going to be in $PATH in the 
pull request above (probably a reasonable assumption for /usr/sbin/lsdev).  In 
#11612 I am less willing to assume that /usr/contrib/bin/machinfo on HP-UX will 
be in the path.  Is there a rule here to guide us?
