Hi, I've worked with gerrit on OpenAFS, and it actually very much simplified the git workflow (well, it was the original git workflow there, but it is remarkably simple). Gerrit makes it very easy for the project maintainers to manage community input. However, I noticed that the information flow is drastically limited: People that don't follow gerrit submissions are often left in the dark, as there is no integration into the devel mailing list. (I don't know if there is support in gerrit for such a thing, though. There may be.) Seeing as that's an important point to many here, this is apparently a tipping factor against gerrit.
