Australia is pretty dodgy for internet (Oz word for crap) speaking as
someone who moved from the US.
I pay $140 a month for 80GB download per month via ADSL. That gets me
80GB anytime of day and only downloads are counted against the quota.
Most deals down here are half the price but you get only a tiny
fraction say 20GB during the day and during the wee hours of the AM
for maybe a 4-6 hour block when you can't possibly use it, you get the
rest of your quota say 60GB.

Speed was promised 20-24Mbit range, I'm getting only about 5-6Mbit range.

In the US I paid $39 for about 7-10Mbit over cable for unlimited usage
anytime. I was doing average 150GB data per month but the service
crapped out during big rain storms that flooded the cable boxes which
are underground out on the front eavesment area.

Don't get me started about mobile service here, 1GB on my phone
account is $79, but for the next 1GB of data transfer the fine details
on the paperwork means its $20,000.00 for the next GB. I upped my
mobile phone contract to $100 per month to get 5GB data and make sure
I stay under that. Voice you get $520 worth of calls but they bill
each minute out at .80 cents. Yes its disgusting compared to what we
are used to in the US.

Network access within Australia is fast, once you go overseas it slows
down quite a bit but is still useable for most web browsing, not as
nice as staying local for data transfers though.

Still, what can you do, the people down here don't complain and if
they do thats where it ends, hardly ever does it mean any action, and
never anything like a class action lawsuit.

Cheers,
PN
