I've made 2 more variation to choose from:

http://panos.solhost.org/pygtk3/ (darker hue, normal font)
Lemme know which one you like most. I still believe the first is the
one to choose, 'cause the other two steal the focus from the actual
news item, while the date info is not important.
I think the second one looks better actually. It might be how it
looks on Windows XP with Cleartype, but my linux laptop died so I
can't give any commentary there, but I think bold text with a lighter
hue tends to blend in better than a darker color. At least, that's
what it looks like here at work. It seems to flow with the rest of
the design better.
