You're absolutely right. The optimism is based on the expectation that the documentation you're seeking will be available in the next few months. The problem is not that the core developers don't recognize that comprehensive documentation is vital but that they *don't have time* to do it right now. Everybody is maxed out on other Pylons responsibilities and their full-time jobs. Demanding it isn't going to make it happen, and it can run the risk of making one look like an ungrateful freeloader. Open source is a do-it-yourself affair; the more people who help, the quicker it gets done. But progress *is* being made (and I as an assistant on the Pylons Book can verify this firsthand). Preview chapters will be forthcoming when they're ready. Among my other projects, I personally would like to finish Buffet2's design and implementation, and rewrite Routes in a simpler and tighter way, but I don't have time for those either, though I hope I'll be able to in the next few months. In the meantime, ask questions, questions, questions. Which simple things have you found unnecessarily complicated and obscure? Asking about them encourages those who know to write a HOWTO, as Alberto recently did for ToscaWidgets. -- Mike Orr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "pylons-discuss" group.
