But it's well known that 2.6 had some serious performance work done on
it, so the consistent 5% improvement I'm obsering in real time
performance which is made up of many other things that don't benefit
from improvements in python optimization, is actually quite
significant. I don't think it's because I compiled it locally, as the
binary packages are also compiled with the same or better optimizer
options (despite the fact that people that waste time with gentoo
would like to think they get better optimized code, the fact is most
of the time they don't)
