Pylons evolved to something larger than a simple framework to become
the Pylons Project, and Pylons 1 should be now known as the Pylons
Framework. I think it's more confusing for current Pylons users than
for new comers. Pyramid, as a successor of Pylons 1 (ie the Pylons
Framework) is a core technology developed by the Pylons Project, an
organization or a team of devoted developers.

In short we have:

1. A solid legacy web framework: Pylons Framework (ie Pylons 1)
2. An organization developing web technologies: The Pylons Project
3. A new core web framework successor of the Pylons Framework: Pyramid
4. Multiple projects related to Pyramid

But to make things simple you also can refer to Pyramid as the Pyramid
Framework
