I generally like really fast hardware, Rackspace has very generous boosting on
their VPS allocations and is up there or past linode on performance per buck.
However, as I enjoy not having much in the way of constraints on
bandwidth/storage/CPU, and I'm fine administrating a machine. I use hetzner.de
dedicated hosting. 5 terabytes/month included bandwidth, most of the machines
are soft-raid1 with 1.5TB hard drives, and I've never had the hardware fail on
me in use over the past 4+ years now.

pylonsproject.org, pylonshq.com, the wiki, and a bunch of other things run on a
single hetzner box, which is insane fast (Core i7 930 quad-core w/HT proc, 24GB
of ram), it runs about $100/mth USD, but since the machine is so beefy, I split
the cost with some friends which pushes it down to about $30/mth each or less.
If you like fast dedicated hardware on the cheap, digitalone.com also has some
good deals that usually far surpass the dedicated leased machine options here
in the states.

I get tempted by EC2 on occasion, but the cost to get a Large EC2 instance
which has a lot more CPU power quickly ends up costing more than I'm paying for
my share of the hetzner box.... and the hetzner machine is sooooo fast.

Cheers,
Ben
