This may be a gcj version issue. What Linux are you running on and what gcj did you use to build PyLucene on it ?

At the time I used gcc-3.4.3/Swig 1.3.23 on fedora core 3 and redhat es3

I have not tested PyLucene 2.0 (since I didn't get v1.x to work on linux I had to look for other options)
