If you are on PPC OS X, try with this compiler instead:
http://downloads.osafoundation.org/compilers/osx/ppc/gcc-3.4.4.tar.gz

It looks increasingly likely that, in order to compile with gcj 4.x, one must start from the svn sources, that is, also compile the Java Lucene sources first. This breaks the 'compile once, run anywhere' promise of Java but I haven't gotten to the bottom of this yet...

Andi, is there any chance you can post the Intel mac binary of 2.0.0-5?

I am running PyLucene on both platforms. I can use the 3.4.4 gcc on my PPC macs but I'd like to get it working on my Intel macs as well. I could not compile PyLucene on my Intel mac from Darwinports gcj, as you noted.

Nonetheless, I will try compiling PPC pylucene 2.0.0-5 and try the fragmenter test there.
