Raluca,

Something that helps is: tabbing into edit mode, selecting all
vertices (ctrl-a) and removing doubles (Mesh >Vertices >Remove
Doubles).
Turning on smooth display also helps.

What exactly are you having problems with?   In what way are things
"disjointed" ?
