Well, I wasn't aware of Launchpad service, and I must confess that it looks
great. In principal, it seems a good idea in that it opens more the door for
an easiar way for users to contribute code. Having said that, I'm not
entirely conviced that this is going to be a good idea for the PyTables
project. Let me expose some of my worries:

- It looks like a completely new PyTables site. This means that, at minimum, a
big warning should be put in the home page (https://launchpad.net/pytables)
saying that this is an *alternate* site so as to easy the branching of
PyTables and make it clear that this is its *main* purpose.

- Launchpad has sections for reporting bugs and asking questions. A naive user
that finds this site first might tend to think that this is a good place to
file bugs or asking questions about official branches of PyTables and it is
clearly not.

- As it is another place where users can find PyTables sources, we should care
to maintain a minimum coherency between the main home (www.pytables.org) and
this one. For example, the logo that you have chosen for it is ok, but what
if we want to change it anytime soon? we must remember to update this site as
well. Of course, this task is a trivial one, but it is just to let you know
that it is *another* site to administer, and seriously, having to maintain
both a MoinMoin and a Trac instances already in pytables.org is already a
fair amount of work.

On the other hand, while contributing code for a project is important for an
open source project, I think that contributing *good* code (i.e. code that
integrates well, that provides real new features and well documented) is key.
And frankly, adding facilities which allows for loosely coupled development,
although apparently is a nice idea, I don't think it is going to help too
much to make a better PyTables.

Well, these are my ideas about all of this. I would like to here more comments
because I might be wrong. But in principal, and due to the reasons exposed
above, I'm not terribly enthusiastic about the Launchpad site for PyTables.

Cheers,
